  Impedimentum - Obstacles

Before we begin the substance of Summa Elementis Theologica, it is prudent to recognize and name those things that may impede our journey.
As all who come to read Summa Elementis Theologica shall arrive already with some sense of self, of belief, of ideas, of knowledge and reason, it is sensible then to presume these things may play some part.
Without some sense of knowledge, or ideas, or belief, or faith the subject matter of Summa Elementis Theologica may well be more challenging and difficult.
Without some pre-existing sense of how you perceive the world to be, or the universe and matters divine, then our very sense of self would be impossible.
We depend on ideas and beliefs for making sense of the world around us. Our world, our society, our community and civilization is built upon thousands of such ideas and beliefs.
Thus, the fact you come on this journey already with ideas of self, of belief, or faith, or knowledge and science and reason is in itself a positive and vital condition.
Indeed, it is a fundamental right and principle of law that all people have the right to freely choose and express their opinions, without fear or favor.
Therefore, it is your right, your absolute natural right to choose to read or not to read; or to agree or disagree with what you may read herein.
So it is that the same ideas, or beliefs, or faiths that brought you to this moment will influence you along the journey of Summa Elementis Theologica.
Whether or not you have questions, these pre-existing beliefs and ideas may or may not be an impediment to considering the answers you may find.
You may struggle with what you find. You may find yourself challenged with what is written. You may even find the beliefs you have adopted so strong an impediment you cannot finish the journey.
Such an outcome would be a terrible tragedy. For if you have come to this moment and this place, then there must be something driving you? There must be some unanswered questions you seek resolved?
One who comes with malice or ill intent or for the purposes prescribed by their fraternity or patron, need not concern themselves with such questions.
As one who comes will ill intent, malice or foul deception can always find a way to corrupt, to twist, to misrepresent whatever is deemed necessary.
Yet if you do come with good faith, good intentions and without prejudice then it is of the utmost importance you not be impeded upon your journey.
For this reason, it is encumbered upon us, that we consider first those ideas and beliefs that may be an impediment and how we might overcome such obstacles?
We begin by looking first at the concept of Models and the fact that the entire world may be described as the manifestation of many millions of Ideas.
