| 1 | Two male Fowl were engaged in a fierce fight for mastery of the hens of a marsh. |
| 2 | One at last put the other to flight. The vanquished retreated, |
| 3 | While the victor moved to the highest point and called out in his loudest voice: |
| 4 | Now truly, I am the victor of all! |
| 5 | Just then an Eagle sailing through the air spotted the exposed Fowl, |
| 6 | And swooped in to snatch him away. |
| 7 | As the mortally wounded fowl was carried away within the talons of the Eagle he cried: |
| 8 | Woe is me. For my pride destroyed me, |
| 9 | While my vanquished foe shall now rule in undisputed mastery. |
