| 2 | When a passing traveler inquired what was the task at hand? |
| 3 | The first Stone Mason responded harshly: Do not torment me with such inquiry. |
| 4 | For clearly I am condemned to this task of cutting stone. |
| 5 | The second Stone Mason was more collegiate and said: Pray forgive my companion, |
| 6 | For we build the foundations to a small temple. |
| 7 | The third Stone Mason was even more resolute and said thus: We be not condemned to such labor, |
| 8 | But blessed to witness a miracle. For by will and flesh and stone alone, |
| 9 | We build a most beautiful temple that will glorify Heaven long after our death and for centuries to come. |
