The Widow and the Sheep

A poor Widow had a solitary Sheep due to be sheared.
Wishing to avoid any expense, the Widow sheared him herself but used shears so poor that she badly sheared the flesh as well.
The Sheep in great distress and pain did cry out and say thus: Why do you hurt me so, Mistress?
For what weight can my blood add to the wool?
If you want my flesh, there is the butcher, who will kill me in an instant.
But if you want my fleece and wool, there is the shearer, who will shear and not hurt me.
