11   Sacrifice

The Ant and the Caterpillar

1An ant in search of food, did come across a caterpillar,
2As it gathered stick and leaves for its cocoon.
3The ant did mock the caterpillar:
4Poor creature what life is this?
5While I spend my time running where I please,
6You are condemned to spend your life making your coffin.
7A few days passed and the ant did pass now the chrysalis.
8As he moved closer he saw it moved and he did mock it again:
9Poor creature what life is this?
10While I enjoy the sun and the rain,
11You are condemned to spend an eternity neither dead nor alive.
12And when the ant passed by for the third time,
13He found nothing but the remains of the shell.
14Yet before he could speak,
15He was covered by the shadow of a beautiful creature flapping its wings.
16The ant fear cried out in fear:
17Oh wondrous and radiant beauty, do not harm me,
18For I am but a lowly ant.
19The butterfly then replied:
20Poor creature what life is this?
21Behold, to become what I now am,
22I did sacrifice what you choose to be.
