| This be the First Law of Sanctuary: |
| Sanctuary be consecrated and sacred place. |
| Places be made sacred and sanctuary, |
| By sacred intentions and sacred acts. |
| There be two important forms of sanctuary, |
| The first be the space occupied by a man or woman, |
| Who stands in true honor before First Law. |
| Such a sacred and holy sanctuary must not be violated. |
| Any man or woman who defiles and dishonors such sanctuary, |
| Defiles and dishonors First Law, |
| And injures their own spirit, |
| And the spirit of their community. |
| This is why an honorable man or woman must not be killed, |
| As they will kill themselves if they have transgressed, |
| And if the law demands it. |
| But a man or woman who possesses no honor, has no sanctuary, |
| Such a man or woman cannot claim sanctuary. |
| The second form of sanctuary be places of land or water in country. |
| Sanctuary of country is most important and must not be violated. |
| The sacredness of sanctuary is the sacred of all holy places. |
| A people who respect nothing of sacredness, |
| Have no culture or law. |
| A People who defile sanctuary, |
| Curse their own spirit and set themselves alone. |
| A man or woman who deliberately damages sanctuary, |
| Can never be a custodian of land or country. |
