Book 7 – The Second Law

1	This be the Law of Trade:
2	Trade be the exchange of objects between people and communities.
3	The trade of permitted objects brings peace between communities.
4	The trade of forbidden objects brings weakness and conflict to communities.
5	There be three forbidden forms of trade:
6	The first forbidden trade is food;
7	The second forbidden trade is people;
8	The third forbidden trade is animals.
9	There be three permitted forms of trade:
10	The first permitted trade is tools;
11	The second permitted trade is crafts;
12	The third permitted trade is knowledge.
13	As to the first forbidden trade:
14	All communities must be self sufficient for food.
15	If a community be dependent on exchange for food,
16	Then such a community be vulnerable to conflict, or famine or tyranny.
17	It be a memory of the ways of the Grey Star People that to control ancestors,
18	Was first to control food.
19	As to the second forbidden trade:
20	No man can own another.
21	An captured enemy must either be welcomed to the community on their oath,
22	Or killed.
23	The trade of people is forbidden,
24	As such action makes the behavior of one people like the Grey Star People,
25	And the others like first and second ancestors as slaves.
26	As to the third forbidden trade:
27	A community is custodian of all animals,
28	It is forbidden for custodians to then trade living animals.
29	Any law that dishonors such law cannot be law.
