2.6 Concepts of Volition

Article 54 - Accept

Canon 1035 (link)

Accept is a word defining the approval, consent and favorable response in receiving some object, or concept or property from another and any conditions or obligations attached to it. An acceptance may be conditional or unconditional.

Canon 1036 (link)

The word Accept comes from the Latin word accipio meaning “to receive” being “to take, as something that is offered, given, committed, granted, assigned, delegated, sent, paid”.

Canon 1037 (link)

Accept is the second of fourteen (14) concepts of Volition. Accept or Acceptance is conceived and chosen in the mind, before it is exhibited in intention or behavior.

Canon 1038 (link)

The effect of Acceptance (to accept) is in two parts: first the taking of some good, property, object, concept, rights and secondly the intentional acknowledgment and consent of it as an explicit or tacit agreement to some preceding act, which may or may not have been defeated or avoided if such acceptance had not been made.

Canon 1039 (link)

Unconditional Acceptance (Accept), also absolute or express acceptance is the agreement to receive certain goods, or property, or rights, or obligations such as the payment of a Bill according to its tenor.

Canon 1040 (link)

Conditional Acceptance (Accept), also partial acceptance is where the holding and receiving of certain goods, or property, or rights, or obligations such as the payment of a Bill is accepted on the happening of one or more conditions. If such conditions are refused to be met, then the maker, or sender, or consignor, or deliverer may forfeit any claim or rights or themselves be liable for any claimed fines.
