VI.   Institution

A Church is a formal element of a type of Religious Institution representing one or more constituted Parishes of Congregations of faithful administering a particular Sanctuary and place of worship and whose spiritual care and teaching is entrusted to a properly appointed Priest, Clergy or Minister in accord with these Canons. 

The word Church is a term first invented in the English language during the 16th Century to describe (1) a place of worship; or (2) a group of people that attend a place of worship; (3) or the liturgy, service and rituals performed during worship; and (4) the aggregate of the organization of a particular Religion. The word "Church" is an ideographic word using the letters "Ch" surrounding the ancient word "ur" symbolizing both an enclosed sacred vessel or cradle and a named place or city.

When used in a formal sense of describing a juridic person, a Church is a certain constituted community of faithful possessing a particular Temple and Sanctuary and whose pastoral care is entrusted to a properly appointed Priest, or Cleric or Minister in accord with these Canons. 

As the concept of a Universal Church or a land mass or country being a “Church” is in direct contradiction with these Canons, such claims and concepts are automatically null and void from the beginning.
