The Fir-Tree and the Ash Tree
A Fir Tree said with boast to an Ash Tree: Verily you are poor of use, for your timbers easily break.
Whereas I am richly trusted for home and roof, for bridge and post.
The Ash Tree replied thus: It is true I am no match for the wealth of your use.
Yet beware your boasts, for come now the axe to cast you down.
Whereas I shall live a little longer.
