An Ant upon the edge of a river to fetch some water did lose his footing and fall into the torrent.
A Dove sitting in a tree above did watch the event and in a moment of compassion took a small bough from the tree,
And threw it into the river near the Ant, by which means the Ant was saved and gained the Shore.
Soon afterward, the Ant did see a man with a bow take aim at the Dove in the tree,
Without hesitation the Ant bit the man in the foot sharply, causing him to miss his aim,
And so saved the life of the Dove.
