Book 1 – The Beginning

2   The Right

1Who is worthy to hear wisdom of the ancestors?
2Who is honorable to hear and partake in law?
3Not just one family, but all tribes.
4Not just people of the dreaming, but all peoples.
5When we speak of ancestors,
6We speak of ancestors of creation and all people.
7Spirit people that created all existence,
8Spirit people that created the star people,
9Spirit people that created this world,
10The way it was from the beginning.
11No one be above the law.
12All are the same under the law.
13If such rule does not exist,
14No rule of law exists.
15This first law has always been most sacred.
16This is why for generation to generation,
17From before the time of our great ancestors,
18Before even the time of the great animals,
19Only those who knew the right Way,
20Were permitted to hear,
21And were allowed to see.
22If a man or woman did not show respect for the elders,
23The stories were forbidden to be spoken.
24If a man or woman behaved as a child,
25They be treated as a child.
26Never to hear the words of the Ancestors,
27Never to be shown right ceremony.
28Only those who knew the Right Way.
29But now we have come to the Third Age,
30And The Age of the Mind.
31The Spirit Ancestors call us to be teachers,
32To show the right Way,
33To teach the right knowledge,
34To explain right ceremony.
35To restore knowledge of the Law,
36Even when those do not honor the Right Way.
37To forgive them,
38Even when they disrespect sacred sanctuary.
39To forgive them and teach them.
40To write down in symbols what has always been most sacred,
41What has been most secret,
42So all may know.
43As the ancient song of wisdom of the ancients reminds us:
44"Nothing is gone, Everything Changes"
