4   The Great Circle of Family

1This be the Law and Circle of Family:
2First, to know and remember Family;
3Second, to respect and protect Family;
4Third, to honor and serve Family.
5Of all the knowledge one must learn,
6The first and last is to know and remember family.
7The Law and Circle of Family be connected to all other Great Circles of Law,
8Connected by all past, present and future actions of spirit in form,
9To the Great Circle of Language and Great Circle of Ceremony.
10The Law and Circle of Family be the Count and Name of Generations.
11The count and name of family;
12The count and name of ancestors;
13The knowledge of respect;
14The first path of knowledge.
15Before a boy becomes a man,
16Before a girl becomes a woman,
17They must be taught the law of family.
18To respect family and count and name family generations,
19Is the path to all knowledge.
20From the count and naming of family generations,
21Comes count and naming of species.
22From the count and naming of species,
23Comes the count, naming and preparation of food.
24From the count and preparation of food,
25Comes naming of all country.
26From the count and naming of all country,
27Comes name and count of days and seasons.
28From the count and name of days and seasons,
29Comes count and name of moons and years.
30From the count and name of moons and years,
31Comes count and name of constellations.
32From the count and name of all knowledge,
33Comes count and name of Law.
34The Second law of family be to respect and protect Family:
35If a mother be too sick to care for infant or die,
36Then the infant immediately be taken into care by sister or auntie.
37No infant or child ever be an orphan.
38If a woman give birth in dishonor,
39Then the child be raised in honor.
40No infant be injured or abandoned for the actions of the mother.
41It is a solemn duty of the people to protect all infants and children:
42That no harm come to them;
43That they do not hunger or cry of thirst;
44That they be not beaten or abused;
45That no one seek sexual relations or devious behavior with them;
46That they be allowed to be children without fear or suffering.
47Any man or woman who harm an infant or child,
48Knows what the laws requires of them to redeem their honor.
49If they do not, then they must be exiled,
50But do not kill them.
51Let them walk alone in disgrace; Let them feel the hunger of dishonor.
52Only if such a man or woman who choose to be an animal return to country,
53Then law permit the defense of the community against such danger.
54Yet never permitted their remains be buried in sacred sanctuary.
55The Third law of family be to honor and serve Family:
56All must contribute and share the tasks of family.
57All women must shares the tasks of women,
58All men must share the tasks of men.
59No women be too high to avoid their duty to share the most essential tasks,
60No man be too important to avoid their duty to share the most essential tasks.
61If a man or woman be old and cripple, let them be.
62If a man or woman have a skill of great value,
63Then let them develop their skill and teach others.
64If a man or woman has more than they need, they must give to others.
65Any law that dishonors such law cannot be law.
