| 1 | This be the Law and Circle of Moiety: |
| 2 | Moiety be the equal division of community and tribe, |
| 3 | According to connection to Country and to all forms of life, |
| 4 | And this be also known as the Law of Skin name. |
| 5 | Moiety be the recognition that all men and women have kin, |
| 6 | Not only in family, but in skin name; |
| 7 | Not only in skin name, but with specific species of country; |
| 8 | Not only with specific species of country, but with whole of country. |
| 9 | Skin recognizes the binding of the spirit to country, |
| 10 | And to species of country. |
| 11 | Skin recognizes the obligations of each man and woman to country, |
| 12 | And as good custodians of plant and animal of country. |
| 13 | Moiety be the inheritance of rights, of purpose, of skill and place. |
| 14 | It be the obligations to community and country. |
| 15 | The Law and Circle of Moiety be connected to all other Great Circles of Law, |
| 16 | Connected by all past, present and future actions of spirit in form, |
| 17 | To the Great Circle of Language, of Ceremony and of Family. |
| 18 | When a female child is borne, |
| 19 | She inherits the skin name of her mother and skin sisters; |
| 20 | So a girl child can never be an orphan, nor abandoned to special place, |
| 21 | And connection to country and all species of country. |
| 22 | When a male child is borne, |
| 23 | He inherits the skin name of his father and skin brothers; |
| 24 | So a boy child can never be an orphan, nor abandoned to special place, |
| 25 | And connection to country and all species of country. |
| 26 | This is the name which binds the child to the law of country, |
| 27 | And to right ceremony; |
| 28 | And so with right ceremony to right dreaming. |
| 29 | A man or woman without a skin name has no connection to country or dreaming. |
| 30 | When a boy has proven himself and his skills, |
| 31 | He is given a secret name by the elders. |
| 32 | But if a boy show exceptional spirit of different skin, |
| 33 | He may also be initiated into different skin name and skin dreaming. |
| 34 | If a girl show exceptional ability and special skills, |
| 35 | She may also be initiated into different skin name and skin dreaming. |
| 36 | Women of the same skin name and moiety we call “sister”; |
| 37 | Men from the same skin name and moiety we call “brother”; |
| 38 | Older men of the same moiety as teachers we call “uncle”; |
| 39 | Older women of the same moiety as teachers we call “aunty”. |
| 40 | Any law that dishonors such law cannot be law. |
