To name and count and prepare Right Food:
Before one hunts animals;
Before one picks fruits or nuts or grasses;
Before one opens the nests of insects;
One must know lawful food from forbidden and taboo food;
One must know good food from bad or poison food.
This is called the third path of knowledge.
A boy or girl who do not know the name and count of species,
Will mistake bad fruits for good fruits;
Will waste spear and stick chasing animal the wrong way;
Will scatter the animals with their noise;
Will cook wrong and make themselves sick;
Will break the law in eating forbidden and taboo food.
Before one count and name and know the preparation of right food,
One must have second knowledge of species of all animals and plants.
Before one count and name species and plants,
One must have first knowledge of moiety, family and generations.
This is why we call the count and name of food the third path of knowledge.
What be third knowledge?
It is the wisdom and knowledge and law of ancestors about food:
It is the respect of every living animal and plant,
That allows its spirit to become one with the people for food.
To never hunt, except for food and supplies;
To never harvest or burn plants and grasses and trees, except at the right time;
To never pick fruit too early, or too late after the birds and bats spoil it;
To never be greedy with food or to over hunt or over burn;
To avoid killing pregnant animals because this will cause them to die out;
To take care of healing plants and never cause them to die from damage or over use;
To avoid torturing animals, because this causes the transfer of negative spirit;
To honor custom in the right preparation of right food;
To stay away from foods that cause narcotic effects, except in proper ceremony;
As the ancient and wisest ancestor women sung:
"Right Food Live; Wrong Food Die"
