9 The Count and Name of Days and Seasons
| 1 | The cycle of seasons of wet; |
| 2 | The cycle of seasons of no water; |
| 3 | This be by law the knowledge of ceremony men; |
| 4 | Initiated to office of country; |
| 5 | Who speak to the ancestors and land, |
| 6 | And protect the tribe and all the animals and plants. |
| 7 | This be the fifth knowledge. |
| 8 | To know by day and season the coming change. |
| 9 | One cannot be an elder custodian of country, |
| 10 | If one does not count the days of seasons. |
| 11 | So the ancient elders of country, sung: |
| 12 | "wattle (grow), bird (sing); good (country), dry (country)" |
