10 The Count and Name of Moons and Years
| 1 | The moon be our guardian, |
| 2 | And Great spirit. |
| 3 | The moon lights the land, |
| 4 | And reveals the song lines. |
| 5 | He tells us the path and the way. |
| 6 | He reminds us of the great stories, |
| 7 | Of life, of death and return. |
| 8 | He teaches us to hunt in darkness; |
| 9 | He shows us to hunt in great light; |
| 10 | He comforts the ill and sick; |
| 11 | He accompanies the ancestors; |
| 12 | He dances with us in ceremony; |
| 13 | He laughs with us at camp; |
| 14 | He visits each of the great constellations; |
| 15 | He celebrates a new born of the family; |
| 16 | He comforts us in our sorrow; |
| 17 | He reveals the truth; |
| 18 | He never lies; |
| 19 | He is a great guardian of dreaming. |
| 20 | To count the arrival of moon by full face, |
| 21 | Is to count a cycle. |
| 22 | There be two hundred and thirty five cycle of the moon, |
| 23 | To nineteen cycles of seasons as one Generation, |
| 24 | And six thousand nine hundred and forty days. |
| 25 | This be the sixth knowledge, |
| 26 | And the knowledge of elders of ceremony. |
| 27 | This is why the ancients sung: |
| 28 | "Honor (us) Moon; Reveal (to us) Moon" |
